| SSRL Opens 2007 CUP Series Registration

SSRL CUP Series Registration is now open for the upcoming season of online racing. The field is currently wide open and the server is ready to host up to 35+ drivers. If you are looking for a clean, hard racing online experience look no further. Our League schedule has been posted and we will kick off the 07 CUP Season August 26 with a Sunday Night Shootout at California Speedway. The official scoring season starts the following Sunday evening September 2. The SSRL season will run 12 races with the final point calculated with each drivers best 11 of the 12 races.
We look forward to our seventh season of SSRL NASCAR racing. So clear that schedule, tell your friends, bolt up that wheel and lets go racing!!!

SSRL CTS Series Registration is now open for the upcoming season of online racing. The field is currently wide open and the server is ready to host up to 35+ drivers. If you are looking for a clean, hard racing online experience look no further. Our League schedule has been posted and we will kick off the 07 CTS Season Feburary 11 with a Sunday Night Shootout at Daytona International Speedway. The official scoring season starts the following Sunday evening Feburary 18. The SSRL season will run 14 races with the final point calculated with each drivers best 11 of the 12 races.

SSRL To Host Multi-League Race

The SSRL (Shamika Server Racing League) and CORS (Central Ontario Racing Series) are working out the details for a multi-league race at Daytona. In the spirit of the SSRL’s Darkfish Interview on CBC Freestyle earlier this year, these cross border online racing leagues are hooking up to host a single closed server race for league members. Complete details will be forth coming and published here in the forums, website and via email. An official date has been set for Saturday June 24, 2006.
Early estimates indicate the potential of 30+ drivers attending this event. So mark your calendar and get ready for a great race. All drivers of the SSRL will be receiving an official announcement via email.
So get ready boys as the server will be setup for a full week of practice after this weeks Sunday Night Shootout at Michigan.

SSRL Now Serving Nextel Cup Series

With the completion of the 2006 SSRL Craftsman Truck Series and the running the All-star race, the SSRL Server has been updated and is now serving the Nextel Cup Series. The server will be following the Cup schedule for the remainder of the season with the ever popular Sunday Night Shootouts running every Sunday night until the official opening of the 2006 SSRL Cup Series in late July early August.
The server opens Sunday evening at 6:00 pm for 90 minutes of practice followed by Qualifying, 5 minute warm-up and a 20% race. These are open server races and everyone is invited to join in. Not only is it a good way to keep your racing edge but it is also a great opportunity to race with other drivers that will be competing in the upcoming series. Complete detail for the Cup series are currently being worked out and will be posted when official registration opens.

Dell opts for AMD's Opteron

Dell has agreed to use Advanced Micro Devices' Opteron chip in multiprocessor servers by the end of the year, ending a long-standing policy of sticking exclusively with Intel.
The PC maker made the move public in its first-quarter earnings press release on Thursday. Speculation has mounted for years as to whether Dell would adopt the company's chips, despite Dell's exclusive relationship with rival Intel to this point. AMD has enjoyed a performance lead in server benchmarks over Intel's Xeon processors.
"We welcome Dell, and Dell customers, to the world of AMD64," Marty Seyer, an AMD senior vice president for commercial business, said in a statement distributed after Dell's earnings release.
Although the deal is confined to servers at this point--and it's not clear exactly when the servers will arrive, other than before the end of the year--it still represents another win for AMD, which has had a long string of gains over its rival. Intel's earnings and stock price have suffered in recent quarters, due in part to AMD's increasing market share.
