NWN is the best family game we have ever had. BOth my kids and I will play for hours on end. Latest expansion was great, but this next one that will allow characters to go to 40th level has us all excited.

I kept letting it go, since I knew that if I started I'd get sucked into it and I didn't want that. I was happy playing UT2K3 as always and didn't want something that took up more of my time. Heh, all I can say is DOH!! :p

I played through NWN when it came out, great game! I think you were playing DS right about then. Anyway, I got into Morrowind and lost my soul, so no more NWN for me ;) :)

Zwolf .. have you tried any of the user made modules? There are some really good ones that give a lot more life to the game. My kids and I just finally decided to go back and finish the original module since we never did but have played several series of user made mods that are a lot of fun.

So, can one set up a server and have 3 or 4 people play together as a "party" like a D&D game? I have Icewind Dale and a couple of friends that want to play together but I havn't gotten them to fork for UO yet.

Have had 8 people in a game so far ... but that was in a LAN session. Yes, you can run a server and have a gaggle of folks in. Bandwidth, like in anythign else, the make bottle neck.

I use to play NWN online. It can support tons of player, but you need a good pipe.

I heard that about Morrowind, which is why I haven't even looked at it. Too much time investment. I didn't even want to pick up NWN, but I finally just had to. So far it's a great game, but the camera drives me nuts. Just when I get things right, I have combat or something that zooms me in and it won't zoom out until I change camera mode and then change it back. Other then that it's pretty cool so far... :D

Ive got both Morrowind & NWN. Much prefer Morrowind if I wanna rpg as iI like the first person perspective over top down 3 quarter isometric viewpoint.

Well, so far I'm liking NWN just fine. When I get thoroughly bored with it, I may grab a copy of Morrowind and see what I think... ;)

This game is pretty fun. I've spent a couple hours a day playing since I bought it and I'm enjoying it more then any FPS I've played lately. I think I'm just a little burnt out on all FPS games. Hopefully a brief vacation from FPS games will help me out. I'm enjoying NWN, which when I'm done also has user made campaigns, an expansion pack that's out, plus another due soon. Then if I get bored I may try making my own campaign. Then there's Morrowind to play, DS 2 which is coming out, etc. Looks like I'll be an RPG guy for a while... :D

Zig Zag and I have great taste :D There's a real differance between NWN and Morrowind though. Morrowind isn't as linear and the world is much bigger. Morrowind is sort of like playing in a persistent online world except your not playing online. I started playing Morrowind in January and I'm still playing it. I've played through both the expansions, but the game doesn't end because you completed the main storyline. Because the world is so big and there are so many NPC's and side quests as well as mods I would guess you could play Morrowind for a year and never see the last possible quest. Sorry for hijacking your thread! ;)

I don't know about you guys, but if the single player campaign is really involving, it doesn't need to be multiplayer. Same with other games. Deus Ex was an awesome game IMO, but it didn't have any multiplayer (if it did I didn't play it). The original Diablo expansion pack didn't have any multiplayer portion to it and I played that game longer then any other game (except UT)... ;)

There's one thing about Morrowind, though.
It gets REALLY immersive, its hard to play other games once you get started.
With your 9800 Pro Slayer you can mAXX out everything too.

It does if you're specifically looking for a game that you can join a few friends playing. Hell, I need to get these two into Battlefield...

Since I just joined, I'm reading all these posts for the first time and MUST comment on them. I have played both Morrowind and NWN. As Zephir said, we played NWN LAN style. We had a blast with that. We also played through the expansion, and had a ton of fun with that, too.
As for Morrowind, I have never completed it. I am really into RPGs, but I have started from the beginning of the game twice and gotten to approximately the same place in the game and just couldn't finish it. It frustrated me because it was so non-linear. I just couldn't get into the story as much because of the open-endedness. It is a really fun game for me, up until a certain point. Maybe one of these days I'll pick it up one more time and finish it, but who knows?
