It's not neccessarily louder, although it proabaly is more capable of filling a much larger room than the JBL, but will have a superior sound. Being able to hear things with an $800 sub that you can not hear with a $400 sub is more the idea. BUT, you have to be able to both hear the difference AND want that difference for it to be worth the price.
