More CD shenanigans: CDs may join SACD and DVD-Audio with enbedded watermarks intended to restrict how you use the discs. Read more here :

Too bad the RIAA sucks so bad. If it wasn't for all this kinda crap, I'd have tons of CD's. As it is, I guess I'll keep holding out... :(

To quote a variation of a famous line:

If you try to protect it....they will crack it.

Here is how I see it....

MP3's are my guarantee I will never buy a lame CD. I will routinely download full CD's of music that I am interested in. I will review the music and decide whether the CD as a whole rocks or sucks.

Examples:

I got the AudioSlave cd on MP3 and found that out of 14 songs....only 4 or 5 of them suck....which is really a good ratio....so I went out and bought the CD.

I downloaded the most recent Def Leppard CD and found that all of the songs sucked except for 1 of them. So I deleted the worthless crap off of my hard drive and kept the one song that I liked.

So the record industry sees me as some evil pirate....well if you put out $14 CD's that has only 1 good song it.....who is the thief if I go buy it?

The solution....if they put out good music, I will buy it....because just like with games on the pc....if I like something....I want to buy it to show my support to the creator of it so they will keep making more stuff like that.

Ok...I am gonna get off my soapbox and wander around the office for awhile and look like I am busy.

:D
