Guys I have an APC Smart Ups 700 that I bought used. I just replaced the batteries and am only using it at 37% of capacity which should give me at least 20 minutes of run time. But I am only getting 6 minutes and I am constantly getting "battery discharged" messages at 100%. After having the batteries tested, I am convinced something has gone wrong with the logic in the APC. Replacement is over $400.

I am using this on my home computer, not a server. And I don't do that much data base work. Is this worth sending it in for repair or should I just continue to use it as a big, heavy surge supressor?

Thanks for the advice,
Bob

it's $400 to replace but what about repair? Andrew Ace has had a couple repaired by APC with great success.

This may not be a lot of help, but a couple of IT type people I know said of the of all the brands two are really weird the way they do things on the inside and APC is one. The guy I work with said in all the UPSs he's changed batteries in the APCs never work properly afterwards. You also should check to make sure you got the correct A/H batteries. I have one of two UPSs that Oreo got from Ubid years ago. Recently I replaced the batteries and it now has 0 capacity.
