I have decided to get a new board NForce2. I want onboard graphics, onboard sound, Raid would be nice but not necessary. I really need the onboard graphics, so if it doesn't have onboard graphics it is out of the question. Oh yes, it has to have a Nick.

I have looked at Leadtech and Soltech but am unfamiliar with these boards. I am a little leery of a board I am not familiar with.

I would appreciate any suggestions you might have. Also are these boards backward compatible with the processors. I am buying one of these boards for my grandson and I am getting an Ausus deluxe for myself. I want the onboard graphics for his computer, which will just be used for viewing web pages and writing letters and term papers. I asked him about games and stuff but he said he has no need for that.

Since I'm an MSI fan, is THIS (http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=398&MODEL=MS-6570) what your looking for?

The Abit looks good too, The one thing he does like his music so I am giving him my 5'1 speakers. Which one has the best sound or they the same?

Both of these boards are real nice, so it is down to the sound . They both described the sound differently, but I have a feeling they are the same. If they are different, which one is the best?
Thanks so much

They both have AC97 which is less than stellar

Maybe a cheap SB Live card or a TBSC to go with the board.

I can do a little better than that, I have an Audigy 2 soundcard I can stick in. I had it left over when I upgraded to my M -- Revolution.

I have heard good things about the Soltek boards. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on one for a rewiew. Or just to play with for that matter :p

amen to that mtuz:)

The Soltek SL-75MRN2-RL would be the choice for you!

It is BETTER LOOKING than the MSI.

It has BETTER PERFORMANCE than the MSI.

Its CHEAPER than the MSI. (well, it is here)

It's sound utilises the onboard nForce2 sound, but couples it with the AC97 - BUT --> the sound is still VERY good.

These latest nForce 2
boards from soltek are EXCELLENT. They have performance whihc leaves a7n8x dlx, and 8rga+ for dead
:)

Only other board which rivals the Soltek xRN2-xx boards now are the Abit boards (they have approximately same performance.)

By all means, get the Soltek. You wont have to viod warrenty with stock NB cooling (it has a very chunky and effective active cooler with thermal paste of the NB)

you can kick me in the head repeatedly if the soltek board DOES NOT PLEASE:)

boards without igp

SL-75FRN-L/RL
SL75FRN2-L/RL the 2 is the better board, has newer C1 stepping chipset, hence better OC'ing

boards with IGP

SL-75MRN-L/RL
SL-75MRN2-L/RL once again, this is better board;)

Hehe
Thomas, you are evil:D , leading me astray this way:) , I was over at motherboard organization and the thing that they have against his board is the high return rate on it.
They claimed that it is having an eighteen percent return rate. I really like the looks of this board, well, I only saw the n version and not the n2 version. The N version does not have sata and I really like that. I am going to look for the N2 version now and remember, you are evil:D but in a nice way.
Thanks so much

The Soltek board is ONE OF THE BEST performing and overclocking nForce 2's out. Yes - better than 8RDA+.

The reason they are being sent back is people are pushing them to and beyond its limit's.

Epox has this very same probelm with the 8RGA+.

If you want IGP, get the SL-MRN2-RL. It has SATA. The L version is like ultra budget;)

Defintaley hold off buying one unless it is the MRN2-RL..... The others just wont please you;)

Oh and Rom, you may WANT to do that, but then again, you gotta lift that leg a few times - this simply isnt viable, now is it?

I definitely will have to hold off, for they are not selling that board here yet. But, doggone, did you have to get nasty and mention sata, spit, spit, want a nasty subject. Next year when it has had time to mature, it most likely will be good, but for now I will just pay it a complement and say it sucks for now. Six people around here have bought raptor drives, and all of them have ditched them. They are about the same size as a 1.44 MB floppy, well, maybe a little larger, but not much:D.

at 200 pounds it's more than viable of me lifting my leg asstard. in fact i'd make it a point if it meant i could kick you in the head a few times.
